Preparing for Starting School September 2025

Welcome to the Foundation Stage page for families joining our school in September 2025.

We cannot wait to begin this wonderful journey with you as your child takes their first steps in education. Our Foundation Stage is designed to inspire curiosity, foster creativity, and build a strong foundation for lifelong learning. Through a mix of play-based activities, hands-on experiences, and structured learning, we help each child develop essential skills in communication, social interaction, problem-solving, and critical thinking. Our caring and dedicated team of teachers are here to support your child’s individual needs, ensuring they feel safe, happy, and confident as they explore new ideas and grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

We look forward to working closely with families to ensure every child has a positive and exciting start to their school journey!

Preparing your child for starting school

When your child starts primary school there are a number of skills they should have mastered. Please click on the images below for further information about any of the topics highlighted.

Summer Holiday  Scrapbook Project

In recent years we have asked families to help their child create a scrapbook over the summer and bring it with them on their first day. This helps your child’s teacher talk to them about their family or things they have done. Please see further information about this in the flyer below.

We have also provided information about our uniform which can be purchased through Uniform Direct. Welton St Mary’s have a popular preloved rail outside the main entrance which you are welcome to take anything that might be suitable, all completely free of charge.
