Discovery Days

Discovery Days take place during the school day in our Foundation Stage Unit. There are 3 sessions to the day. Sessions one and two, which are in the morning, are sessions for children who attend lcoal pre-schools and childminders in the village. The children attend these sessions with their pre-school leaders or childminders during the year before they start school. For children who do not attend local pre-schools and childminders, we offer a separate session during the afternoon (2.15-3.15pm) where parents of children starting school in September are able to attend with their children. As this is a special time in preparing for starting school, we ask that younger siblings do not attend.

The session comprises of stories, structured play activities and songs and rhymes which our pre-school children are invited to join with our current Foundation Stage children. The children in Foundation Stage love being the experts at these sessions and ‘showing our new children the ropes’, helping them to get a feel for their classrooms, the routines that we have and the amazing learning that happens everyday.

Discovery Day sessions will be running on Thursday 18th April, Thursday 2nd May, Thursday 16th May, Tuesday 4th June, Tuesday 25th June.
