Data Protection, GDPR and Freedom of Information
Welton St Mary’s Church of England Primary Academy are committed to protecting the privacy and security of personal information. We recognise our responsibility under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 to ensure that all personal data is collected, used, stored and disposed of safely and lawfully.
We only collect data that is necessary to support our statutory duties, safeguarding responsibilities and the effective running of our academy.
We are a public authority, and therefore the lawful basis for most of our processing relates to public task, legal obligation and safeguarding. Where consent is required, this will be requested clearly and can be withdrawn at any time.
Your Rights
Under data protection legislation, individuals have the right to:
- Be informed about how their data is used
- Request access to personal data held about them (Subject Access Request)
- Request correction if data is inaccurate or incomplete
- Request erasure of data in specific circumstances
- Restrict or object to certain types of processing
- Request that information is transferred to another provider where appropriate

Freedom of Information
As a public authority, we comply with the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
You can request access to recorded information we hold by submitting a written request to the school.
We aim to respond within the statutory timeframe of one month.
