Vision for Mental Health and Wellbeing – May 2022
Together we strive to build positive health and wellbeing for all. Rooted in our Christian values we promote and encourage personal growth for ourselves and each other, develop resilience and understanding, recognise need and provide support.
Through challenge, care and healthy relationships our whole school community creates a safe space for everyone to be seen and heard.
Together we care, learn and thrive.
Pastoral Team
Pastoral Team – The need for pastoral care in our school is ever growing so, with that, is our pastoral team. This is a new team, with new roles but we are very excited to expand this provision to meet the changing needs of our children and families. It seems a good idea to share a who’s who to help you understand the work that we do….

At Welton St. Mary’s Church of England Primary Academy we are committed to ensuring all children and their families receive the support they need to learn and thrive to their full potential.
We believe that the pastoral care we provide is just as important as our academic support.
Supporting and valuing our children’s wellbeing enables them to flourish and give them the skills and resilience for life. Part of a strong pastoral team is the understanding that not everyone’s journey at school is easy. Every child may face challenges in their personal lives that impact their wellbeing and their education.
We work in partnership with our families and believe that developing honest, empathetic and trusting relationships are key.
As a team, we have a wide range of knowledge and skills to support children and their families, ensuring that they receive the appropriate care and support to meet their individual needs. We believe that students who feel safe and supported will thrive.
Some examples of the type of support that our school can offer are as follows:
- Friendships, behaviour and social skills
- Nurture support
- Early Help
- Lego therapy
- ELSA therapy (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant)
- Support through difficulties at home and at school
- Bereavement support
- Transition from KS1 to KS2 and to high school
- Signposting to services
- Support for Forces Children
- Support for Young Carers
If you have any challenges and would like support, please speak with your child’s class teacher in the first instance. We pride ourselves on our non-judgmental, inclusive approach and will be happy to help.
