Supporting Our Forces Children
At our school, we are proud to support the children of service families and recognise the unique experiences and challenges they may face. We are committed to ensuring that every forces child feels valued, understood, and supported throughout their time with us.
We have a dedicated Forces Champion who meets regularly with our forces children to check in on their wellbeing. These meetings provide a safe and supportive space for pupils to talk, share their experiences, and seek reassurance—particularly during times when parents are on detachment or serving away from home. Our Forces Champion works closely with each child to ensure they feel listened to and supported both emotionally and academically.
To help build strong peer connections, our Forces Champion also organises regular forces lunches. These sessions allow children who share similar circumstances to come together, support one another, and spend time in a relaxed and friendly environment. These opportunities help pupils develop strong friendships and a sense of belonging within our school community.
We are also proud to take part in the annual Remembrance Service in our village. Each year, our forces children attend and lay a wreath on behalf of the school, showing respect and gratitude for the service and sacrifices of armed forces personnel. This meaningful tradition helps pupils reflect on the importance of remembrance and community.
Understanding how important family contact is, we also facilitate calls with parents who are serving abroad, often in different time zones. Where possible, we support children in making contact during the school day, helping them maintain strong relationships with their loved ones and feel reassured while they are apart.
Through these dedicated initiatives, we aim to provide a caring, inclusive, and nurturing environment for our forces children. We are proud to celebrate their resilience, support their wellbeing, and ensure they feel confident, connected, and valued members of our school family.
