We have 12 new House Captains at Welton St Mary’s who are very eager to help lead our school through this academic year. They have already met and agreed on their chosen house events for the year: a Poetry Slam; a TT Rockstars (times tables) competition; a Spelling Bee competition; Sports Day; a Talent Show; and an art competition. The event this term will be an art competition. We are looking for an artist to paint a representation of our school vision on to a large blank wall near our school entrance, which admittedly is currently a very grey and uninspiring area! We want to add some colour and inspiration to the outside of our school and tell all of our visitors just what we strive to achieve inside of our school every day. Each house will meet this term to share their ideas and come up with a proposed design. One or two children from each house will then design this on paper and the governors and leadership team will decide on a winning design which will be recreated on our wall. Keep an eye on this page for updates throughout the year – we hope to get the wall designed and painted by July!

Our House Captains have also been trained up by Mr Durkan in how to deliver a school tour. They are looking forward to welcoming visitors to our school and providing lots of information as they show them around our wonderful school.

They have also been supporting some of our younger children at dinnertimes; they attended the KS1 disco to support our Foundation Stage children in their first disco which can be quite daunting; and they presented the ‘above and beyond’ awards for this term and served our winners some treats to say thank you for their hard work.

All of our children collect house points throughout the term for good work, behaviour and anything that impresses a member of staff.

Here are the whole school house point results for term 1:

1st: Stonebow

2nd: Bailgate

3rd: Imps

4th: Cathedral

5th: Brayford

6th: Castle

Our House Captains wanted to introduce themselves below. Please have a read and get to know our House Captains. We will keep this page updated throughout the year so you can see the house events and keep up to speed with which house is winning in the team point challenge!
